About myself

I'm now over 60 and an enthusiastic motorcyclist.
I've always been fast on the road with guys like me, not really belong to the league of chopper drivers.

At the beginning of the 80s I even owned a so-called OMK driver
B-License for one year, with which I competed in a single race on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. (also known as The Green Hell)
Until I had to retire the bike due to a defective ignition box, I was even somewhere in the middle of the field with my Yamaha RD 350 LC - at least I wasn't totally cut off.

On the photo you can see quite well how improvised the performance was. 😊

That was all a while ago, I have been suspended longer for various reasons.

I never belonged to the group of mechanics, nor did I have any professional connection to it.
Nevertheless, I always wanted to know more about bikes, even toyed with the idea of an internship in a workshop.
But that never came up in time.

I had the opportunity to read and devour the book Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig.

I was excited about his philosophical digression during a road trip and the fight with his own demons.

I don't know - a real mechanic might not be able to do much with something like that.
But apart from philosophy I want to experience the practical side of motorcycle maintenance - no, much more:

I'm talking about restoring a wreck into something that resembles my memory of my first bike.

However, as I said before - I am the guy with the two left hands.
The fight against my hybris is lost, because there is now an invention called Internet, which suddenly makes many things connected.
Today, with a few clicks, I can learn more about a 40-year-old motorcycle than the manual provided at the time.

I also consider myself to be capable of learning and I am generally considered to be goal-oriented.
